Inaugural Islip Irish Day Parade: Celebrating Tradition and Community in Downtown Islip
Islip, NY – September 11th, 2025 – The very first Islip Irish Day Parade will take place on Sunday, September 21st, 2025, in downtown Islip. This celebration will honor the town’s Irish heritage while uniting the community for a day of culture, music, dance, and local pride.
The parade will begin at 2:00 PM, kicking off at Islip Town Hall West and continuing along the official Parade Route (401–655 Main Street, Islip). Residents and visitors are invited to line the streets and enjoy Irish music and dancing, live performances, local organizations, and colorful floats.
Leading the celebration as the First Grand Family of the Islip Irish Day Parade is the Gerhard Family – a deeply respected Islip family who embody resilience, service, and community spirit. Their beloved son, Jesse Gerhard, proudly served as a firefighter with the Islip Fire Department and the FDNY before tragically passing away in the line of duty in February 2022.
In his memory, the Gerhard family established the Jesse Gerhard Memorial Foundation, which carries forward Jesse’s spirit of service by helping others in need. Their strength and compassion reflect the true essence of Islip: love, resilience, and community.
Following the parade, the celebration continues along Main Street with local businesses welcoming guests. Harp & Hound, Islip’s beloved Irish pub, will be at the heart of the festivities, serving traditional fare, pints, and live entertainment.
The inaugural Islip Irish Day Parade marks the start of what promises to be a new annual tradition – one that celebrates heritage, honors community heroes, and strengthens the bonds of Islip.
